Marty’s Day is commemorated on Jan 30 to Mark the Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji

Martyr’s day or Shaheed Diwas is also commemorated on 23 March to Remember the sacrifice of 3 Extra Ordinary revolutionaries of India – Bhagat Singh, Shivaram & Rajguru & Sukhdev Thapar.

Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 by Nathuram Godse and his Death was followed by epic Public out pouring’s of grief. This day marks the saddest day in the history of India’s Independence struggle.

The Martyr’s Day is observed on January 30 Every year to remember Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to India and his sacrifice during the freedom struggle. At his daily prayer meeting on the evening of 30th January Gandhi was shot dead by a young man Nathuram Godse.

Godse killed Gandhi because he disagreed with Gandhi’s conviction that Hindus and Muslims should live together in harmony. Godse was arrested and found guilty of murder. He was sentenced to death and on 15November 1949, He was executed at Ambala Central Jail.

President and Prime Minister paid homage to the father of the Nation at Raj Ghat in New Delhi. People of India observe a two minutes silence in the honor of Mahatma Gandhi. On the Martyr’s day, Other freedom fighters are also remembered and honored.

Martyr’s days is also called Sarvodaya Day or Shaheed Diwas.
